With the support of the European Union, 25 members of the Advisory Board of Children (ABC) from Taraclia district met today in Chi\u0219in\u0103u to attend a training on the rights of the child and to discuss about how the rights of children are observed in the communities where they live.<\/p>\n
The Board started working in April this year, along with three other similar ABCs established in Cantemir, Cimi\u0219lia and \u0218tefan Vod\u0103 districts.<\/p>\n
According to Natalia Semeniuc, child participation consultant at the NGO \u201cPartnerships for every child\u201d (P4EC), the ABC must become an indispensable ally of the employees of Territorial Social Assistance Structures. \u201cThis is the platform where children express their ideas and views to children from social services; it helps adjust the existing services and create new services to cover their needs and contribute to the wellbeing of children\u201d, Mrs. Semeniuc said.<\/p>\n
The ABC mission is to make the voice of children heard, including of those placed in social services, and to help their peers know their rights. Throughout their activity, the selected members will attend several trainings and meetings with the representatives of Territorial Social Assistance Structures in order to learn about the social services addressed to children at risk in their districts. This knowledge will contribute to the development of the ABC members’ skills to monitor and evaluate local policies and programmes, with a focus on the observance of the rights of the child.<\/p>\n
The Advisory Boards of Children, consisting of 100 members, are created by P4EC with support of the EU, within the \u201cFor a society where girls and boys can thrive and reach their full potential with dignity\u201d project.<\/p>\n
The Advisory Boards of Children have been created by P4EC in 10 other districts of the country since 2014. More than 800 children have been members of these boards.<\/p>\n
