Following the positive results recorded in schools in the municipality of Chisinau, the educational resource \u201cThe Adventures of Miskit,\u201d part of the \u201cProgram for Better Learning,\u201d is now being extended to activities carried out by school librarians. In this context, 60 school librarians from Chisinau are learning today, on 22 October, how to use Miskit\u2019s stories and activities to bring more joy and meaning to their interactions with children in school libraries.<\/p>\n
The training takes place within the Municipal Forum of Librarians, \u201cInclusive Libraries for the Community,\u201d organized for the second consecutive year. In total, 100 librarians are participating in the forum, which aims to support the creation of safe and child-friendly spaces, encourage the exchange of ideas and good practices, and transform school libraries into hubs for learning and community development.<\/p>\n
According to Ana Palii, Project Manager at Partnerships for Every Child, \u201cAlongside teachers, school librarians contribute to creating spaces where children feel supported and can learn through activities that help them understand their emotions. Their involvement strengthens collaboration between teachers, librarians, and students and contributes to the development of a safe and positive learning environment. Today\u2019s activity supports the learning process in primary education by providing schools with attractive, child-friendly materials that help children become more resilient and emotionally balanced.\u201d<\/p>\n
Neil Brighton, Country Director of the Norwegian Refugee Council in the Republic of Moldova, present at the event, stated \u201cWe are pleased to see how the Program for Better Learning continues to bring tangible benefits to children and communities. Expanding The Adventures of Miskit initiative into libraries highlights the important role of informal education in supporting children\u2019s emotional well-being. Librarians thus become active partners in children\u2019s recovery and learning processes, offering them a safe and inspiring space.\u201d<\/p>\n
As an educational resource, \u201cThe Adventures of Miskit\u201d provides simple and creative methods that help students recognize and manage their emotions, set goals, understand others\u2019 perspectives, and build positive relationships.<\/p>\n
The activity is organized under the project \u201cEnsuring Child Well-Being in Educational Institutions and Communities,\u201d funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by Partnerships for Every Child, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council.<\/p>\n
