A project aimed at supporting girls with disabilities placed in residential care to be part of safe family, educational, and community environments was launched on Monday, September 24, in Chisinau. A memorandum was signed by representatives of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS), the Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC), and the Siol Foundation from Ireland.<\/p>\n
According to Viorica Dumbr\u0103veanu, Secretary of State at MSMPS, the rights of persons with disabilities must be respected, as they deserve to be part of society, and the Republic of Moldova is fully committed to this goal. \u201cIn this regard, we have developed and approved the National Program for the De-institutionalization of persons with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities. I am grateful to the Siol Foundation from Ireland, which provides significant support in achieving this objective,\u201d<\/em> stated the Secretary of State.<\/p>\n Daniela M\u0103m\u0103lig\u0103, Director of P4EC, noted that the project\u2019s activities complement the central authorities\u2019 actions to create functional community-based service models for girls with disabilities and to integrate them into the national social protection system. The project will focus primarily on the assessment and de-institutionalization of children placed in the H\u00eence\u0219ti Center.<\/p>\n The three-year project is implemented by MSMPS and P4EC, with financial support from the Siol Foundation.
