Children without parental care in alternative care services to receive daily allowances
18/04/2018
Children temporarily or permanently without parental care, placed in Professional Foster Care, Family-Type Children’s Homes, Guardianship/Curatorship, Community Homes for Children at Risk, and Placement Centers for Children Separated from Parents, will receive allowances from the 5th grade until they reach the age of 18.
In this regard, the Government has approved the Regulation on Establishing and Paying Daily Allowances for Children, aiming to improve the material well-being of children in family- and community-based care services, as well as to develop their skills in managing personal funds responsibly and efficiently.
The daily allowance will be as follows:
- 10 MDL per day on regular days;
- 100 MDL on the child’s birthday;
- 70 MDL on public holidays: New Year, Christmas, Easter, and Children’s Protection Day.
Additionally, the daily allowance will be indexed annually on April 1 according to the previous year’s consumer price index.
In 2018, approximately 2,600 children will benefit from the daily allowance. The State Budget Law for 2018 allocated 10.4 million MDL for this purpose.
