Representatives from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, and non-governmental organizations forming part of the Country Core Team under the Measure Evaluation Project are participating in a workshop focused on the evaluation and monitoring of child care system reforms, held in London. The event takes place from September 11–15 and brings together representatives from Armenia, Ghana, and Uganda.

During the workshop, participants will share experiences from the four countries regarding child care system reform, achievements, and existing challenges. By the end of the event, evaluation tools will be reviewed and adapted to each country’s specific context, and an implementation plan for the evaluation will be developed. This plan will define the involvement of relevant stakeholders, timelines, roles, and responsibilities.

Stela Grigoraș, Minister of Health, Labour and Social Protection, emphasized the importance of analyzing and revising evaluation tools to enhance national efforts supporting children without adequate family care. “The Republic of Moldova has achieved significant results in the child care system thanks to political support, intersectoral collaboration, effective communication, the development of preventive services to avoid child separation, and family support services. However, there is still much work to do. We will make every effort to deinstitutionalize children with complex needs, ensure the sustainability of alternative care systems, and strengthen family support services,” said the Minister.

The workshop is organized under the Measure Evaluation Project, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The project works globally to strengthen countries’ capacity to collect, analyze, and use data to improve national efforts supporting children without adequate family care. The Republic of Moldova joined the project in 2017.
