Inclusive learning and psychosocial support for displaced and host-community children in Moldova

Project implementation period: January 1, 2026 – June 30, 2026

The project aims to improve access to quality education and promote the psychosocial well-being of children and young people affected by the war in Ukraine in the Republic of Moldova. By strengthening the capacities of education and child protection professionals, the project helps create safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for both Ukrainian refugee children and children from host communities.

Final beneficiaries

Through the project, 145 teachers and non-education professionals will be trained in the ThriveWell psychosocial programme, equipping them with practical tools to promote children’s well-being and resilience. Their enhanced skills will directly benefit approximately 2,000 learners through improved classroom practices and psychosocial support.

In addition, around 500 children and young people will participate in learning support and remedial education activities, while 2,000 individuals will be reached through awareness-raising and communication initiatives promoting inclusive education and psychosocial well-being.

Activities

• Capacity-building training for teachers and non-education professionals on the Better Learning Programme (BLP) and the ThriveWell psychosocial programme;
• Training and information sessions for school librarians on the MISKIT tool and the Better Learning Programme;
• Delivery of the Teacher Well-being Training Module for education professionals;
• Delivery of the Social Worker Well-being Training Module for social workers and child protection specialists;
• Implementation of Better Learning Programme activities in schools and social assistance settings;
• Provision of essential educational supplies and school kits for children.

The project contributes to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, thrive, and feel safe, regardless of the challenges they have faced.
