Promoting positive parenting and improving wellbeing of conflict-affected children and their carers

Implementation period: August 2023 – June 2024

The project aims to develop and implement the Parenting Programme for Displaced Families from Ukraine, designed to support displaced parents—particularly mothers—affected by conflict and war in strengthening their parenting role. The programme is designed to reduce parental stress, promote parents’ wellbeing, encourage nurturing and responsive parent-child relationships, and strengthen family bonds through activities delivered in a safe and supportive environment.

The project also invests in strengthening the capacities of professionals working with children and families by equipping them with the tools and methodologies needed to deliver the parenting programme. This will enhance their professional skills, contribute to the sustainability of the intervention, and enable the programme to be extended to other families in vulnerable situations.

The project is expected to achieve the following results:

  • Three pilot implementation areas: Chișinău Municipality and the districts of Căușeni and Ștefan Vodă;
  • 20 facilitators trained to deliver the parenting programme;
  • 250 displaced and host-community families benefiting from the programme, including approximately 400 children and 250 parents;
  • 58 parenting sessions delivered;
  • Around 370 vouchers provided to participating children to purchase educational games, school supplies, or books.

The project “Integrated Humanitarian Response in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova and Romania for Ukrainians and Third-Country Nationals Affected by the Conflict” is implemented by Partnerships for Every Child (PPFC) as part of the regional humanitarian response programme funded by the German Federal Foreign Office through Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe (DKH). In the Republic of Moldova, the programme is coordinated by the Alliance of Active NGOs in the Field of Child and Family Social Protection (APSCF) in partnership with several civil society organizations.
