Kira Nichiforova and Vilena Sarsaman, members of the Advisory Board of Children from Taraclia district, participated today in the National Children’s Forum, organised by the People’s Advocate for Children’s Rights.
Now in its seventh edition, the event brings together children actively involved in promoting and monitoring the respect for children’s rights and serves as a platform for dialogue, expression and consultation for children. It provides them with the opportunity to express their views on issues that affect them and to interact with public authorities in the process of identifying and addressing these issues.
In the message delivered to the forum participants, Kira Nichiforova and Vilena Sarsaman mentioned that throughout the ABCs activities, young advisers have benefited from several information workshops and joint meetings with representatives of territorial social assistance structures. These activities contributed to the development of their skills, including monitoring and evaluation of local services, policies and programmes from the perspective of children’s rights. “We, the members of the Taraclia ABC, had the opportunity to monitor and evaluate five resource centres within educational institutions in the district, based on the eight domains of children’s well-being: being safe, achieving, being active, being responsible, being healthy, being cared for with affection, being respected and being included. We can confidently say that the recommendations of our evaluation, which were presented to local decision-makers at the end of the process, were heard and appreciated,” the young advisers stated.
With the support of our development partners, from 2014 to the present, Advisory Board of Children have been established in 14 districts across the country. Over 800 young advisers have advocated for the voices of all children, including those placed in social services, to be heard when decisions affecting them are made.
The Advisory Board of Children from Taraclia district, as well as from the districts of Cantemir, Cimișlia and Ștefan Vodă, were established within the project “Building a society in which every girl and boy can fully realise their potential with respect and dignity”, implemented by Partnerships for Every Child and CNFACEM, with financial support from the European Union.
