3000 Students Across Four Regions Receive School Supplies and Backpacks

03/12/2024

3000 students from grades I–XII in Chisinau and the districts of Anenii Noi, Orhei, and Soroca will receive educational kits containing backpacks, school supplies, and other materials to support their learning. This initiative is part of efforts to assist communities affected by the ongoing crisis faced by refugee families from Ukraine, as well as families in Moldova.

Additionally, 12 schools in these regions will receive office supplies and sports equipment to help create a healthy learning environment for all children, while 260 teachers will also receive office supplies.

Ana Palii, Project Coordinator at Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC), emphasized: “Together with our donors, we aim to support both students and teachers, contributing to an equitable and quality learning environment. These measures are part of a broader project focused on education and ensuring the well-being of children as they navigate crises and stressful situations. The students and teachers from these 12 schools are participants in the ‘Better Learning Program’ (BLP), which teaches them how to manage stress and crisis situations to improve academic success.”

Cristina Savin, Education Coordinator at the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) Moldova, added: “Through this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring access to education for all children, including those affected by crises. By investing in school supplies and educational resources, we not only reduce the financial burden on families but also help create a more equitable and resilient school environment. Education is the key to building stronger communities and a safer future for the next generations.”

These educational kits are provided through the project “Ensuring the Well-Being of Children in Educational Institutions in Moldova,” funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the Liechtenstein Development Service Foundation (LED), and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and implemented by P4EC.

Previously, with support from NRC and other donors, similar kits benefited approximately 2,500 students, 280 teachers, and 20 schools in Balti, Cahul, and Chisinau.
