With support from UNICEF, the staff of the “Assisted Living” social service in Chisinau are participating in a three-day training workshop to enhance their professional competencies in understanding, recognizing, and managing the effects of trauma on children and young people, with the goal of providing appropriate, empathetic, and recovery-oriented support.

According to Natalia Semeniuc, P4EC project coordinator, “Continuous training of staff contributes to creating an environment adapted to the real needs of beneficiaries, where they can grow safely and receive proper support. During the workshop, participants learn to identify signs of trauma, respond with empathy, and support each child in a way that promotes emotional balance and recovery,” said Ms. Semeniuc.

The “Assisted Living” social service is a specialized social service that provides housing and support for the (re)integration of children and young people. Beneficiaries are assisted by a multidisciplinary team composed of child protection specialists, psychologists, and social pedagogues.

The training is organized by Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC) as part of the UNICEF project ”Better Care for Children”, implemented with financial support from the Government of Sweden, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Moldova.
